The Wine Bottle is a consumable trinket in World of Horror.
It is a bottle of foreign and dry wine. This alcoholic beverage heals a sizeable +3 Reason, turns into Empty Bottle, and causes a Hangover.
Strategy[]
The Wine Bottle is one of, if not the best source of Reason healing in the entire game. It instantly heals a full 3 Reason upon drinking and even leaves you with an Empty Bottle, which may be refilled with bathwater after every mystery, potentially being a valuable source of Stamina.
However, the Wine Bottle comes with a seemingly serious downside, leaving the player character with the Hangover minor injury. This decreases all their stats by 1, making it akin to an extremely dangerous Reason-recovering version of the Sewing Kit or Long Pig Steak.
Despite this, the stat loss of the previous 2 examples is permanent, whereas the Hangover injury only lasts till the end of the current mystery. As such, it is extremely easy to play around this downside. Drinking it right before the final investigation or after defeating a boss but before clicking 'resolve combat' completely negates the cost, leaving you with a free +3 Reason and an Empty Bottle instead. Be warned not to drink it on the ending screen itself.
In a pinch, it can be drunk midway through a mystery for an emergency heal and cured at the School Nurse should the player have Doom to spare.
Buying it from the Illegal Den only costs 2% Doom on entry, making it the most Doom-efficient source of purchasable Reason recovery, albeit an expensive one.
