The Shovel is a weapon found in World of Horror.
This gardening tool is easily one of the harder-hitting melee weapons in the game damage-wise with 6 damage. However, this high damage is counteracted by the Shovel's speed stat of 120, making it the slowest melee weapon in the game, tied with the Hunting Rifle. The hit chance of the Shovel is also on the lower end, at just 60.
Combat[]
The abysmal speed and low hit chance results in the Shovel being one of the least effective combat weapons for any character, especially those with a low Strength stat. The player will be hard-pressed to fit two attacks into one turn early on, and only characters with high Dexterity and Strength will be able to fit a Dodge or Brace defensive action in as well. As such, Shovel users will likely end up taking more damage in fights.
In terms of efficacy, the Shovel is roughly comparable to the similarly mediocre Wooden Bat, doing 2 more damage but being 20 attack speed slower and 10% less accurate. It also acts as a direct downgrade to the slow-but-powerful Fire Axe, being slower by 20 speed as well and being 5% less accurate.
Considering its cost of 3 FUNDS from the Hardware Store, it's probably best to purchase another weapon instead. It is drastically outmatched by the equal-cost Monkey Wrench and even the below-average Crowbar. The Carpenter Hammer is 1 FUND cheaper yet generally better in fights too.
However, it is better than nothing in emergencies and can tide the player until a better weapon is found. Furthermore, the effect of occasionally gaining 1 FUND per combat victory may prove useful sometimes. The Shovel also has a good use in two events, especially the free 2 FUNDS in the Yatsuhaka-Mura event.
If nothing, it can still be sold for 1 FUND or thrown at enemies for a hefty 5 damage.

The shovel can be obtained two ways:
- Buying it from the Seaside Hardware Store for 3 FUNDS.
- Defeating Sniffling Gardener.

Uses[]
Besides being a weapon, it unlocks the option to 'dig out the package' in the Yatsuhaka-Mura event, located Downtown. This results in a very useful +5 EXPERIENCE and +2 FUNDS.
The Shovel is also used for Moriko's exclusive event Echoes Of The Past, unlocking the option to 'dig' up her mother's grave. Moriko finds the grave empty, resulting in +40 EXPERIENCE but -4 REASON.
