"they will pay for this"
Ryuichi ( 竜一 ) is an unlockable ally in World of Horror.
He is an informant for an unknown party, possibly the cult trying to summon the Old God. Presumably, they broke his hands, leading to his defection to the player character's side, saying "they will pay for this".
He acts as an informant for the player, taking 2 FUNDS in exchange for important information, likely against the cult as it lowers Doom.
Use[]
Ryuichi comes with an 'Use' action available; you would pay 2 FUNDS to lower DOOM by a random amount between 0 to 3%.
Strategy[]
Ryuichi acts practically like the Monument, except far less consistent in effect and far more consistent in cost. While the Monument randomly chooses an ever-increasing cost from Funds, Reason, or Stamina to deduct 3 Doom, Ryuichi instead always takes a steady 2 Funds for anywhere from 0% to 3% Doom reduction.
As such, Ryuichi serves as a good Doom-lowering alternative should the player have Funds to spare but be running low on health. If the player does not want to or cannot buy anything else (for example only having mysteries left that do not allow Town access), they can put all Funds towards Ryuichi's info instead. Reiko's 1 Fund per mystery and Yoichi's Fund-doubling loophole both make good combos with Ryuichi. Perks such as Mizuki's Signed Contract and Miku's Looting both also serve to help, making Ryuichi a very good ally in the right circumstances.
Unlocking[]
According to Achievements menu, Ryuichi is unlocked via Paid in Blood achievement.
Acquisition[]
As of version 0.9.92a, it is possible to obtain Ryuichi via 'Look for Friends' action during Far-out Fable of a Fear Festival mystery, or via recruiting at the Illegal Den.
