The Ritual Dagger is a Knowledge weapon in World of Horror.
This magic dagger is one of the faster weapons in the game, and 2nd fastest of all Knowledge weapons at 75 attack speed (only the Small Candle is faster). It also has a decent damage of 4. However, it has a very low hit chance of 60%, equal to that of the Monkey Wrench.
The Ritual Dagger has a small chance to restore the player character's Reason per after defeating an enemy in combat.
Combat[]
The Ritual Dagger's stats make for an average combat weapon for Knowledge characters. Characters with low Knowledge may struggle using the weapon in fights. The poor hit chance makes the use of attack boosting and preparing attacks essential in combat. Due to its good attack speed but poor hit chance, the Ritual Dagger is more effective late-game with higher Knowledge and increased accuracy due to levelling up.
It is roughly equal to the Scalpel in terms of combat effectiveness. Both have equal damage but the Dagger has 5 faster attack speed and 5% lower accuracy, on top of possessing a special ability.
Against other Knowledge weapons, the Ritual Dagger is comparable to, if not slightly better than the Heavy Duty Flashlight while being less effective than the Small Candle. Despite this, if the player character gets unlucky with the Occult Shop's infamous RNG for the Small Candle, they would be better off grabbing the adequate Ritual Dagger if they roll it first rather than stack up Doom searching through the shop's wares.
Another boon of the Dagger is its special ability, where it has a chance to recover 1 Reason after ending an enemy encounter. Despite the game stating it is after defeating an enemy, running from combat can also trigger the ability. If the player gets lucky, the Ritual Dagger can provide a much-needed source of Reason recovery throughout the playthrough. Unfortunately, it is also similarly possible that the effect just never or rarely activates during a run.
The counterpart to the Ritual Dagger's ability is the Carpenter Hammer, which regains lost Stamina instead of Reason. While differing on a run-by-run basis, the Ritual Dagger's ability may come in handy more often on average due to the fewer ways to restore Reason compared to Stamina. Furthermore, the Ritual Dagger serves as a direct upgrade to the Carpenter Hammer, possessing the same damage and speed but being 10% more accurate.
