The NECRONOMICON you've stolen contains powerful spells and horrible secrets. To activate its power, retrieve more pages when you level up.
The Necronomicon is a spellbook exclusive to the player character Toshiaki Wakamatsu in the game World of Horror. It is part of Toshiaki's backstory, having been stolen by him just before fleeing the cult in the events leading up to playthrough.
In the beginning of a playthrough, the Necronomicon contains a single page with one spell, Aura of Azal-Hoth. Up to five more pages can be acquired as character-exclusive perk cards during the level-up screen.
As a special item it can not be interacted with via the usual menu when selecting it from the inventory. Therefore it cannot be discarded, stored, sold or equipped. Accessing the Necronomicon from the inventory shows the player all pages collected up to this point.

Trivia[]
- The Necronomicon is an artifact from the Cthulhu Mythos by H.P. Lovecraft. It is a spellbook originating from the Arabic region, containing information from the Great Old Ones. The name is a portmanteau of three Greek words "nekros," "nomos," and "eikon" — respectively "dead," "law," and "likeness"; though grammatically incorrect, Lovecraft intended this to mean "an image of the law of the dead".
- The feature of adding new pages to the Necronomicon is possibly inspired by the film Evil Dead 2. In the film, missing pages of the Necronomicon are a key plot element, containing a spell to reverse the effects of reading passages from the Necronomicon. This theory is further supported by World of Horror's other references to the film.
Notes[]
- Despite not having a stated Book trait, Book Strap adjusts combat speed if Necronomicon is in inventory.
Bugs[]
- While it is not normally possible to store this item, if you save and then load a game it will be placed in storage along with all your other items.
