"The summoning ritual must be stopped at all cost!"

Nameless Horror is the boss of the Far-out Fable of a Fear Festival mystery, only available in Timeline B.

Appearance[]

The Nameless Horror is a massive Eldritch being, summoned forth by the cultists of the village. It has an elongated forehead, which has a circular hole with small tentacles circling around it. The being's face is plated and crusted, with the surrounding areas appearing darkened. There are large holes in the plate for its round eyes and the eyes themselves have horizontal hourglass shaped pupils like an octopus. A large thin slit runs down the entire center of its face plate from the hole in its forehead to its mouth, which is simply a horizontal slit lined with teeth. On the sides of its head are two ears which look like human ears.

The Nameless Horror is massive and emerges from a hole in the ground with its head only. It is unknown what its body looks like, but it does appear to have a human-like neck.

Story[]

The Nameless Horror is worshipped by the cultists of the village for an unknown period of time, likely even to the ancient times, for its name appears to be lost in history.

In the beginning of the final phase of the festival, the cultists take most of the visitors to sacrifice them to the Nameless Horror. When the player arrives at the overgrown factory in time in Timeline A and B, the Nameless Horror slowly begins to emerge from a sacrificial pit to consume the offerings that the cultists have provided. In either case, the summoning ritual is thwarted, either by an undercover agent (Timeline A) or by the player (Timeline B), causing it to retreat back to the sacrificial pit to await its next summoning.

If the player doesn't reach in time, the Nameless Horror appears to have been sated and given enough sacrifices, and its whereabouts are unknown. It is implied by the cult leader to be roaming free.

Combat[]

You can escape this encounter by choosing "NO HOPE!" context action or simply running away. This results in Ending A.

Guide[]

The Nameless Horror itself is nearly untouchable and impervious; it sports a huge health pool and Power level. On top of that it deals some of the highest damage in the game; dealing 4~6 DOOM damage depending on difficulty and cases completed beforehand.

One must instead put their focus on the Master Cultist chanting the ritual. The Master Cultist has no Power, and only has 20 health, totaling up to 5 uses of the "ATTACK THE MASTER CULTIST" action. Destroying the Master Cultist ends the fight with a "run", and nets you both Ending C and a Spiral Hood.

Unique Actions[]

  • "ATTACK THE MASTER CULTIST" Deals 4 damage to the off-screen Master Cultist.
  • "NO HOPE!" Escapes the encounter; similarly to Oetaru. This action gives Ending A.

Enemy Actions[]

  • "MASKED CULTIST stabs you with a knife!"
  • "MASTER CULTIST chants the forbidden spells!"

Location[]

Nameless Horror is encountered in the Far-out Fable of a Fear Festival mystery by entering the overgrown factory before the dawn of day 3. This is only available at Timeline B, where entering the overgrown factory in any timeline will acquire Ending A instead.

Trivia[]

It is possible to 'kill' Nameless Horror by using direct-damage spells (like Ithotu Flame) or using the Shoot action (if you have enough bullets), as the all target the Nameless Horror itself, and not the Master Cultist. However, there's no script prepared for this occurence and the game progresses as if the player simply ran away using 'NO HOPE!' option, resulting in Ending A.
