Dead Man's Float is a special School event that the player can encounter in World of Horror. It can only be encountered as the third investigation during Spine-Chilling Story of School Scissors, if the event text says that the BLESSED CHALK is 'in the pool'.

"You notice a backpack drifting on a swimming board in the middle of the pool. Could it be what you were looking for?"

- This event is not to be confused with Dead Man's Float (I), which is very similar but has three choices instead of one and does not always end in a combat encounter. This event is tied directly to Spine-Chilling Story of School Scissors, and does not occur at any other time than during the player's search for the Holy Candles and Blessed Chalk for the ritual to summon Scissor Woman's physical form.

- The 'Dead Man's Float' is a survival technique to maintain buoyancy whilst conserving energy in water. Alternatively, the name of this event could be a reference to 'The Tale of the Dead Man's Float', an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?, which also features a monster that emerges from a school's swimming pool.
