The DIY Flamethrower is a unique and powerful weapon that can only be acquired in Bizarre Bruit of the Blood-curdling Botanist. As its name suggests, it is little more than a hairspray with a lighter attached, though it can fire short but powerful bursts of flame at an enemy.
This item is necessary to achieve Ending A in the aforementioned mystery, and can be kept until the end of a playthrough even after the mystery is complete.
With a base speed of 70 and high base damage of 6, this weapon has the potential to end many fights in one or two turns, making it a powerful weapon even for low-Dexterity characters.
Acquisition[]
This item has a complicated method of acquisition, as it is unobtainable unless the playthrough features two specific mysteries: Macabre Memoir of Morbid Mermaids and Bizarre Bruit of the Blood-curdling Botanist.
Steps[]
- Start the Macabre Memoir of Morbid Mermaids mystery and defeat the Mad Janitor. He will drop the weapon Fire Axe.
- Start the Bizarre Bruit of the Blood-curdling Botanist mystery. Before the fight, be sure to complete the sidequest and equip the Fire Axe, as without the Fast Hands perk, you will be unable to equip the Fire Axe mid-fight.
- During combat with Shiro-san, select the 'W-WHAT'S THAT?' action, then use the Fire Axe to "CHOP YOUR WAY OUT" via combat actions. After this, choose the "BREAK INTO MINIVAN" action, which places the DIY Flamethrower into your inventory.
Bugs[]
- As of version 0.9.17hf, it is possible to 'BREAK INTO MINIVAN' multiple times, allowing multiple Flamethrowers to be obtained, given one can survive multiple turns of being attacked by Shiro-san.
